Dear Colleagues, Friends and W4GF Advocates,
Very warm greetings into the year of 2015 from the Women4GlobalFund (W4GF) Secretariat!
As the first formal communication of 2015, W4GF is delighted to announce that we have great and exciting plans for this year to support you and your communities to advance the effective and meaningful involvement and engagement of Gender Equality advocates in Global Fund funded countries.
As we move forward with our plans, we want to start by knowing how W4GF can best support you! So, we being this year with an online survey to find out more about your work in country since you have engaged with W4GF – either through the workshops that have been conducted, or through our online platforms, including on our Facebook page, Website, and/or Twitter.
This will enable us to:
- Immediately provide you with any urgent support needed;
- Shape the strategy and work of W4GF in 2015; and
- Inform the Global Fund Secretariat (GFS) and other technical partners working on Gender Equality, of the technical support needs of communities in addressing Gender Equality issues of Global Fund funded programmes at country level.

As an introduction the exciting plans we have for this year, let me begin by congratulating Ms Robin Gorna, Executive Director of AIDS Strategy, Advocacy and Policy (ASAP) on her appointment as the Director of the Partnership for Maternal, Newborn & Child Health. As one of the founding members of W4GF, Robin has worked relentlessly to encourage and support involvement of Gender Equality advocates in the roll out of the Global Fund funding model. W4GF will definitely miss the vibrant and spontaneous energy and the strategic advice that has enabled W4GF to advance in its work in countries.
ASAP continues to host W4GF, and I have now taken on responsibility for coordinating and leading the W4GF Secretariat. I am assuming these responsibilities alongside my other role as the Communications Focal Point of the Communities Delegation on the Board of the Global Fund – bringing synergies across these 2 roles will be important to support the W4GF movement and advocacy efforts, both at the country and Board levels. As most of you will know, I have been involved with W4GF since its inception at the 1st Global Workshop held in Geneva in 2013, and have met some of you along the way. I based in Singapore, and have worked with communities of women living with HIV since 1999, including being a founding member of Women of APN+ (WAPN+), now known as WAP+.
Ms Anandi Yuvaraj (anandi@women4gf.org), is currently supporting the W4GF secretariat and will be in touch with many of you personally in the coming weeks. Anandi is also known to many of you, and is a member of the International Community of Women Living with HIV (ICW Global), and based in Coimbatore, India.
In the coming weeks, we plan to share more exciting news and activities with you.
Once again, we look forward to your responses by the 7th February 2015 to the online survey so that we may understand your needs to inform our work together!

Le Women4GlobalFund (W4GF) est très heureux de vous annoncer que nous avons de grands et passionnants projets de soutien pour vous et vos communautés. Pendant cette année 2015, nous travaillerons ensemble pour assurer une implication et un engagement efficaces et significatifs des défenseurs de l’Egalité des genres au sein des pays financés par le Fonds Mondial.
Alors que nous allons de l’avant avec nos projets, nous souhaiterions savoir comment le W4GF peut vous soutenir encore plus! Par conséquent, nous commençons cette année par un sondage en ligne pour en savoir plus sur votre travail dans votre pays depuis que vous vous êtes associés avec le W4GF – soit à travers les ateliers que nous vous avons proposé, soit par l’utilisation de nos plateformes en ligne comme par exemple notre page Facebook, notre site internet, et/ou notre Twitter.
Ceci nous permettra de:
- Vous fournir de manière immédiate tout aide urgente que vous requérez;
- Déterminer la stratégie et les projets du W4GF en 2015; et
- Informer le Secrétariat du Fonds Mondial (GFS) et les partenaires techniques qui travaillent sur l’Egalité des genres du support technique requis par les communautés afin qu’elles puissent adresser les problèmes d’Egalité des genres des programmes financés par le Fonds Mondial au niveau national.

En guise d’introduction à nos passionnants projets, je voudrais tout d’abord féliciter Ms Robin Gorna, directrice exécutive d’AIDS Strategy, Advocacy and Policy (ASAP), pour sa nomination à la tête du Partenariat pour la santé de la mère, du nouveau-né et de l’enfant. En tant que membre fondatrice du W4GF, Robin a travaillé sans relâche pour encourager et soutenir la participation des défenseurs de l’Egalité des genres dans la création du modèle de financement du Fonds Mondial. Le W4GF va certainement manquer son énergie vibrante et spontanée ainsi que ses conseils stratégiques qui ont permis au W4GF de se développer dans tous ses pays.
En tant que nouvelle responsable de la coordination et de la direction du Secrétariat du W4GF, je vous assure qu’ASAP continuera d’accueillir le W4GF. J’assume ces responsabilités tout en demeurant le point de contact de la communication au sein de la Délégation des Communautés siégeant au Conseil d’administration du Fonds Mondial – c’est en créant une synergie entre ces deux rôles que j’espère pouvoir apporter un soutien plus que significatif au mouvement W4GF et à ses efforts de plaidoyer, tant au niveau du Conseil d’administration qu’au niveau national. Comme vous le savez peut-être, je participe au travail du W4GF depuis sa création lors du premier Atelier Mondial à Genève en 2013 et je j’ai pu faire la connaissance de certains d’entre vous. Je suis établie à Singapour et travaille depuis 1999 avec des communautés de femmes vivant avec le VIH. J’ai aussi participé à la création de Women of APN+ (WAPN+) maintenant connu sous le nom de WAP+.
Ms Anandi Yuvaraj <anandi@women4gf.org> soutient actuellement le secrétariat du W4GF et sera en contact avec la plupart d’entre vous dans les prochaines semaines. Anandi est également connue de beaucoup d’entre vous. Elle est membre de la Communauté Internationale des Femmes vivant avec le VIH/sida (ICW) et est établie à Coimbatore en Inde.
Dans les prochaines semaines, nous vous enverrons plus d’informations et d’activités passionnantes.
