Last Friday, the United Nations adopted the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The third goal focuses on “good health and well-being” and it includes ending the epidemics of AIDS, tuberculosis, malaria by 2030.

The launch of the SDGs coincides with the start of the Global Fund’s 5th Replenishment process and the Global Fund has a critical role to play in reaching these targets. Currently, the Global Fund is undertaking research for its needs assessment, which will announce the target after the Board meeting in late November. This is the key moment to let the Global Fund know that we expect a bold and ambitious ask.

The Coalition Plus; Developed Country NGO Delegation to the Global Fund Board; HealthGAP; International Civil Society Support and RESULTS UK have created this sign on statement.

W4GF advocates are invited to call on the Global Fund Board and its Executive Director to challenge donors with an ambitious funding request so that the Fund and implementing countries can achieve the end of the epidemics.

The stakes could not be higher – this Replenishment will determine whether or not the world achieves the global target of ending the three epidemics by 2030.
