On 18th May 2016 from 13:30 -14:30, the Global Fund Secretariat at the Women Deliver Conference in Copenhagen, Denmark, will be holding an event on “Financing women’s, children’s, and adolescents’ health”. This event will include speakers Mark Dybul, as well as government officials from Norway and China.
Session outline: Better health is not a cost; it is a benefit, and there is strong evidence that investing in health and in women, children, and adolescents yields significant benefits to society and the economy. Although there is strong evidence, experience has shown that increased funding for health will not occur automatically. There is still need to scale up financing, and with many countries getting richer and hence “graduating” from the difference Global Fund sources in the next 15 years, governments should attempt to leverage more efficient and equitable domestic financing. They could also explore new ways of generating domestic health revenues to finance health services for the health of women, children, and adolescents.
The session brings forward:
- The evidence of what has worked in terms of increased health funding and/or diversified funding sources for health and RMNCAH at the country level;
- Donor interaction, engagement, and collaboration with countries and partners, lessons learned the past 15 years. What worked, and what did not, what is replicable going forward?
- Countries experiences in financing women, children and adolescent’s health, and what will their strategic shifts be in the financing landscape in the post-2015 world?
