GFAN has also shared the Agenda for the Replenishment as of September 9th 2016.

The Global Fund is strongly committed to supporting programs that address gender inequalities and gender-related risks and removing gender-related barriers that prevent people from accessing health services. Since its creation in 2002, the Global Fund has invested US$18 billion in programs that benefit women and girls. In 2015, approximately 60 percent of the Global Fund spending was directed to women and girls.

Under its 2017-2022 allocation cycle, the Global Fund will support the development and implementation of gender-responsive national health strategies; the improvement of data systems to gather and analyse sex- and age-disaggregated data; and the identification of vulnerable or at-risk populations. The Global Fund will also strengthen existing partnerships with organisations such as UNAIDS, UNICEF, United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), the Partnership for Maternal, Newborn & Child Health, the Global Financing Facility (GFF), PEPFAR and the UK’s Department for International Development (DFID) in order to advance gender equality.

It is critical that the Global Fund receives adequate funding to support countries in addressing gender-related barriers by implementing programs built on strong leadership and forward-looking policies and procedures. The cost of inaction linked to raising less than 13 billion will translate into lives lost due to AIDS, TB and malaria.
