Join W4GF Webinars in 2018

Women4GlobalFund (W4GF) will host a series of webinars with the Global Fund Secretariat and key partners in 2018 on the following key subjects.  Additional details will be released on each webinar closer to the time.  Refer back to the W4GF website for more details on the first webinar to take place on Tuesday March 20, 2018, (15:00 – 16:30 CAT)

  1. AGYW Focus at the Global Fund: adolescent girls and young women (AGYW) investments, organisational plan, indicators – Tuesday, March 20th (15:00 – 16:30 CAT)

Description: This webinar will provide an update on the Global Fund’s investments to reduce HIV, TB and malaria amongst adolescent girls and young women (AGYW) in 13 countries. Included in the update will be the strategic priorities for how the Global Fund is ensuring quality in the implementation, and supporting countries towards comprehensive, multi-sectoral approaches. The team will discuss the HER Voice initiative which launched in October to support the meaningful engagement of AGYW in Global Fund related processes in the 13 countries.

  1. TB Gender AssessmentsApril 2018 (date to be confirmed)

Description: This webinar will discuss the TB gender assessment tool and highlight key findings from countries that have conducted the assessment, and the ways those processes have informed countries’ national TB response (and Global Fund investments). The webinar will also describe how the CRG Strategic Initiative (SI) has successfully supported the TB gender assessments.

  1. Gender and Challenging Operating Environments (COEs) – May (date to be confirmed)

Description: The Global Fund is operating in more than 20 countries designated as challenging operating environments (COEs). While presenting unique challenges in programming, the Global Fund is committed to ensuring a gender responsive approach in these contexts. This webinar will discuss some of the ways gender responsive programming is being advanced in COEs, and discuss potentials for increasing partnerships in these contexts.

  1. Community Monitoring – June (date to be confirmed)

Description: Community based monitoring (CBM) increases community engagement and improves the quality, effectiveness, equity, efficiency and responsiveness of services. This session will discuss models of community-based monitoring and describe some of the CBM programs included in Global Fund grants with a focus on how CBM can increase and/or improve programs for girls and women/and/or gender responsive programming.

  1. Gender in the context of Sustainability and Transition – October (date to be confirmed)

Description: The Global Fund’s Board has adopted a Sustainability, Transition and Co-Financing policy that is under implementation. This discussion will focus on how gender is reflected in the policy, and promote an open discussion on how the policy could be implemented so that gender responsive programming is embedded in national responses once the Global Fund investments end in a country.

  1. Youth Strategy – focus on adolescent key populations – November (date to be confirmed)

Description: Adolescents and youth are the fastest growing demographic around the world, and it’s critical that the Global Fund programs are investing in their health and wellness. This session will present thinking on the Global Fund’s plans to increase and improve investments for this diverse population, with a focus on key populations, and solicit input and discussion from W4GF advocates.

  1. Malaria Matchbox – September (date to be confirmed)

Description: The Global Fund recognises that to reach the ambitious targets set for malaria, including elimination, approaches that are grounded in the community, human rights and advancing gender responsive programming are critical. The Malaria Matchbox is a tool to assess countries’ community based approaches, and offer prioritised recommended on how to improve their reach and quality. This session will present Malaria Matchbox, and also the findings from the pilot in two countries.

  1. HER Voice – December (date to be confirmed)

Description: The HER Voice Fund was launched in October 2017 to remove some of the barriers that prevent AGYW from meaningfully engaging in Global Fund related processes at country level. This webinar will present the results of the first year of grant making, and discuss lessons learned for the next years.
