In 2026, W4GF was invited to speak at both the World Health Assembly (WHA). We took the opportunity to say something clear to global health decision‑makers: integration of health services is necessary, but only if it keeps people – especially women and girls – at the centre.
What we asked for:
- Person-centred, gender‑transformative, and community‑led integration
- Investment in women as the backbone of health systems (67% of the health workforce, yet only 25% in leadership)
- Use of HIV lessons – trust, peer support, decentralised care – to transform broader health systems
- Community‑led approaches as the world rolls out new HIV prevention tools like Lenacapavir
