Across the globe, girls and women have a significantly higher risk of HIV infection and AIDS-related illnesses than their male counterparts, with HIV prevalence almost seven times higher in some parts of the world.
ViiV is working to empower women and girls as a critical part of the HIV response and also in recognition of the critical need to address communities, rights and gender in order to achieve an end of AIDS. It has allocated $2millionto support women and girl focused community led interventions. Through its Positive Action for Girls and Women Fund, ViiV is particularly interested in supporting and funding projects that address the harmful cultural norms that lead to adolescents being forced into early marriage, inter-generational relationships, transactional (paid for) sex, and sexual and gender based violence.
This is an opportunity to get support for gender-based interventions in your HIV response. If you have particular ideas for a project or are looking to extend an existing project, we strongly encourage you to apply.
The deadline for applications is 15 March 2016.
