Notes from W4GF WEBINAR: UPDATES ON THE HER VOICE FUND

W4GF facilitated a webinar for 19 participants (W4GF advocates and partners) on Friday October 13 2017 from 10:00 – 11:30 (CAT) to engage with the Global Fund Secretariat; Eastern Africa National Networks of AIDS Service Organisations (EANNASO) and SRHR Africa Trust (SAT); on the adolescent girls and young women (AGYW) Meaningful Engagement Fund (now known as the HER Voice fund). The Global Fund put out a request for proposals in April 2017 to support the management of funds to foster the meaningful engagement of AGYW over a period of a year in the 13 focus countries: Botswana, Cameroon, Lesotho, Kenya, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Swaziland, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, Zimbabwe, and Zambia.

Many – including W4GF advocated for this fund and commend its establishment and hope to see its expansion based on demand. The process for setting up the HER Voice fund is ongoing its launch is expected in November 2017. The fund will channel small grants to sub grantees in the 13 focus countries under the Community Rights Gender (CRG) Strategic Initiative. This fund includes upward of USD 500,000 to support efforts towards meaningful engagement of AGYW and community-based organisations working with AGYW on Global Fund national processes
