Opportunities: Women’s rights and women led organisations: Liberia, Malawi, Nigeria and Uganda
Review this opportunity!
We all know that access to resources for women’s rights and women led organisations are important and essential.
Although W4GF Advocates has seen great progress over the years to ensure that Global Fund policy and process respects and promotes gender equality we have a long way to go. In many countries Global Fund resources are prioritised for important biomedical responses and not other important programmes and services that address gender based violence, cervical cancer, and the lack of supportive policies that enable all women to make decisions about what happens to their own bodies.
Many women in communities are responding yet they are often underfunded and their contributions not recognised. Funding is essential to bridge this gap and ensure women’s rights and women led organisations are resourced to fully respond to the needs and rights of women and girls towards gender equality.
The Women’s Peace and Humanitarian Fund (WPHF) and Spotlight Initiative are inviting proposals from women-led or women’s rights organisations in Liberia, Malawi, Nigeria and Uganda.
The call aims to channel quality funding to small, local and grassroots women-led and women’s rights civil society organisations, as well as women’s funds, with a focus on ending violence against women and promoting women’s human rights and gender equality in peace and security and humanitarian contexts.
The deadlines for each country are as follows: Liberia: August 21, Malawi: August 18, Nigeria: August 2, Uganda: August 22. Civil society organisations can apply for a grant up to 2 years and ranged between USD 20,000 and USD 200,000.
