Women4GlobalFund (W4GF) is convening a working group to keep gender equity as a central priority in the next Global Fund Strategy (2023-2028).
The Global Fund team spoke on a recent W4GF webinar, and explained the two years process that kicked off in March 2020 [see diagram below] with general agreement at the 43 Global Fund Board meeting (May) to keep the aims and objectives of the current strategy relevant. On 29 May 2020, virtual consultations began and will be open throughout the year. The first round of input received by 1 September will be reviewed by the Global Fund Strategy Committee in October 2020. The Partnership Forums have been delayed because of COVID-19 and may take place in the first quarter of 2021 or will be held virtually if necessary. The Strategic Framework will be approved in the middle of next year with the full strategy approved by Nov 2021. The 7th Global Fund replenishment kicks off in early 2022 and will be based on an approved new Global Fund Strategy.
The W4GF Strategy working group will generate ideas throughout the process to advocate for concrete ways to keep gender equity central to the work of the Global Fund moving forward.
