On 8 September 2020, Women4GlobalFund (W4GF) in partnership with APCASO and the Eastern Africa National Network of AIDS and Health Services Organisation (EANNASO) organised a webinar on Community Systems Strengthening (CSS) which attracted 51 participants.
The webinar demystified CSS and and fleshed out what it means practically for women and girls and what is possible now that window 1, 2 and 3 are behind us meaning that most of the money had been allocated.
CSS is essential to achieving progress against HIV, TB and malaria and to uphold principles of promoting human rights and gender equality. Interventions that the Global Fund supports are outlined in the CSS Module
CSS is essential to achieving progress against the three diseases and to fulfil their principles of promoting human rights and gender equality. Interventions that the Global Fund supports are outlined in the Community Systems Strengthening Module which sits in the Global Fund’s Strategic Objective 2 to Build Resilient and Sustainable Systems for Health (RSSH). This is available in the Modular Framework which is the tool that the Global Fund provides for countries to structure their funding requests. The module provides opportunities to invest in four priority community systems strengthening interventions:
- Community-based monitoring
- Community-led advocacy and research
- Social mobilization, building community linkages and coordination and
- Institutional capacity building, planning and leadership development.
