Communities at the Centre of Global Fund Reprioritisation

A coalition of civil society organisations released a new independent analysis on community engagement in the Global Fund’s reprioritisation process. Women4GlobalFund (W4GF) is proud to have contributed to this effort, led by DATA etc, alongside global and regional networks working to strengthen civil society participation.

The report collects evidence from over 30 countries and provides an early snapshot of how communities are experiencing the reprioritisation process. It highlights both the opportunities and the challenges to ensure meaningful participation, transparency, and accountability.

For W4GF, this work is urgent. Without full engagement of women and girls in all their diversity, reprioritisation risks deepening existing gender inequalities in health and reducing the impact of Global Fund investments. As the world moves toward the Global Fund’s 8th Replenishment, community voices must remain at the heart of decisions.

Key messages from the report:
• The need for clear, accessible information on reprioritisation processes.
• Stronger tools and facilitation for community participation.
• Safeguards to avoid the deprioritisation of community-led programmes.

This report is a reminder that the Global Fund’s strength lies in its unique partnership with communities and women and girls in all their diversity. In order to save lives and deliver impact, funding must be fully aligned with community priorities.
