The Global Fund 52nd Board Meeting statement

As the 52nd Global Fund Board Meeting unfolded from November 20-22, 2024, critical decisions were taken to shape the future of global health investments. Women4GlobalFund (W4GF), a vibrant network of 327 advocates from 75 countries, is amplifying the voices of women and girls in all their diversity. We are calling for bold action to prioritize gender-transformative approaches, equitable resource allocation, and community-led health solutions in the fight against HIV, TB, and malaria.

Our statement outlines clear priorities to ensure that the Global Fund remains a champion of gender equality and human rights. We urge the Board to:

  • Mandate gender-responsive assessments and tools to uncover hidden disparities and ensure that all funded programs address the unique needs of women and girls.
  • Protect catalytic investments in gender-transformative and rights-focused initiatives, especially in challenging environments where these are the only lifelines for women and girls.
  • Ensure equitable resource allocation, taking into account structural inequalities that disproportionately impact marginalized communities.
  • Enhance funding efficiency by redirecting operational costs to empower women-led organizations and feminist movements at the grassroots level.
  • Advance integrated responses to TB, HIV, and malaria that center on people and prioritize comprehensive, linked health strategies.

Now more than ever, donors and decision-makers must honor their commitments to gender equality and health equity. The 8th Replenishment presents an opportunity to ensure that no woman, regardless of her identity, is left behind.
